Although a short book, it is the product of many years of thought and action. It is a defense of the principles to which you and I have devoted our lives.

My friends are calling it "Ron Paul's legacy."

These principles - individual liberty, sound money, the Constitution, and the foreign policy of the Founding Fathers - have had no home in American politics for a very long time. With The Revolution: A Manifesto, I'm letting the establishment know we're not going away.

The Sad Future of FLDS Children

These children taken from their homes nearly one month ago are now being sent to foster homes all across the state of Texas. The Low Down on High Oil Prices

It is one of the main concerns facing people today, rising gas prices. You hear stories about it daily on every news channel and it seems like everyone has a theory as to why we are getting raped at the pumps. Some claim it's the lack of refineries and we haven't built a new one in 50 thousand years or so. Others say it's the oil companies gouging the hell out of honest Americans because they are having record revenues. There are a million different reasons people toss out there on the radio at the workplace etc. All of them are just BS.

I will tell you why gas as well as everything else is high right now and after I tell you I expect you to spread the truth like wildfire to everyone you know, call in to radio talk shows, write your congressman or put signs up at gas stations because what I'm about to tell you is that important. Gas prices are high because the dollar is steadily decreasing in value. This is due to the careless way in which the Federal Reserve runs our economy. "MOORESTOWN (CBS 3) ― More charges have been filed against a Burlington County police officer who was recently charged with sexually assaulting three girls.

Authorities announced Moorestown Officer Robert Melia Jr., 38, has been charged with four counts of animal cruelty after allegedly engaging in sex acts with cows between June and December of 2006.

Melia and his former girlfriend, Heather Lewis were previously charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of criminal sexual contact with three girls in his Pemberton home from 2003 until 2006.

Liberal TIME magazine ran this as the cover of the current issue. It has a lot of WWII veterans pissed off. I stand with those vets (not that I needed much urging to blast TIME). This is what they had to say about it.

Mates also said making the comparison of World War II to global warming was erroneous and disrespectful.

“The second world war we knew was there,” Mates said. “There’s a big discussion. Some say there is global warming, some say there isn’t. And to stick a tree in place of a flag on the Iwo Jima picture is just sacrilegious.”

According to the American Veterans Center (AVC), Mates served in the 3rd Marine Division and fought in the battle of Iwo Jima, landing on Feb. 24, 1945.

“A few days later, Mates’ eight-man patrol came under heavy assault from Japanese forces,” Tim Holbert, a spokesman for the AVC, said. “During fierce-hand-to-hand combat, Mates watched as his friend and fellow Marine, Jimmy Trimble, was killed in front of his eyes. Mates was severely wounded, and underwent repeated operations for shrapnel removal for over 30 years.”

Lt. John Keith Wells, the leader of the platoon that raised the flags on Mt. Suribachi and co-author of “Give Me Fifty Marines Not Afraid to Die: Iwo Jima” wasn’t impressed with Time’s efforts.

“That global warming is the biggest joke I’ve ever known,” Wells told the Business & Media Institute. “[W]e’ll stick a dadgum tree up somebody’s rear if they want that and think that’s going to cure something.”

COLORADO SPRINGS - The Texas Department of Public Safety expects to have new information Friday afternoon on a woman arrested in Colorado Springs who may have a connection with a raid on a religious compound in western Texas.

According to a release from the city of Colorado Springs, police arrested 33-year-old Rozita Swinton at her home on Wednesday on a charge of false reporting to authorities, a misdemeanor. The incident she was arrested for happened in February. Swinton was taken to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

According to a news release from Colorado Springs, the Texas Rangers were in Colorado Springs as part of their investigation involving the compound in Texas.

Texas Rangers have not confirmed that they are investigating Swinton.

"We're not confirming that the local arrest is related to the Ranger's investigation of the FLDS property," said Lisa Block, Texas Ranger's spokeswoman. FLDS is an acronym for The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Texas Department of Family and Protective Services spokeswoman Shari Pulliam told 9Wants to Know Friday that she believes the girl claiming to be an abused 16 year old is among the more than 400 children removed from the FLDS property.

"We feel like she probably is here and that during the course of the investigation we will be able to locate her," said Pulliam.

Pulliam said that her office was not able to trace the number of the person calling with allegations of abuse because the calls were made to a domestic violence shelter.

The Colorado Springs Police Department says it cannot discuss the Texas case.

Texas authorities needed a criminal complaint before they could get a warrant to search the compound. They got it when they claimed a 16-year-old girl named Sarah called them for help, saying she was inside the ranch, pregnant and scared of her abusive 50-year-old husband.

One former FLDS member, Flora Jessop, of Phoenix, who has been an outspoken critic of polygamist practices, says she thinks she may have talked to Swinton on the phone, with Swinton claiming to be Sarah's twin sister. Jessop claims to have hours of tapes of the conversations with Swinton and says they began before the raid on March 30.

Jessop said the caller also talked about alleged abuse at property owned by FLDS members in Colorado City, Arizona. Colorado City is home to a large number of FLDS members.

Jessop says the woman she believes is Rozita Swinton called again Thursday morning after Swinton bailed out of the El Paso County Jail.

"I did get her to admit to me her name was Rose," Jessop said.

The affidavit for the case in Colorado Springs has been sealed, but Jessop says police arrested Swinton for making false calls somewhere in Colorado, claiming to be an abused child.

9NEWS has learned that Swinton was arrested in Castle Rock two years ago for making a false report.

"Each year the people of the United States write a check to subsidize China, one of the most brutal, anti-American regimes in the world. Lately it has been in vogue for everyone in Washington to eagerly denounce the egregious abuses of the Chinese people at the hands of their communist dictators. Yet no one in our federal government has been willing to take China on in any meaningful way.

Very few people realize that China is one of the biggest beneficiaries of American taxpayer subsidies. Thanks to the largesse of Congress and the President, China enjoys subsidized trade and the flow of US tax dollars into Beijing's coffers.

I offered an amendment before the House of Representatives last month that would have ended the $4 billion subsidy our nation quietly gives China through the US government's Export-Import Bank. The bank underwrites the purchases of goods and services by the Chinese government and others around the world. Unfortunately, only a minority of Democrats or Republicans supported my measure. Apparently, many members of Congress are happy to bash China, but don’t mind lending her U.S. taxpayer money at sweetheart interest rates.

Some of your money went to fund a nuclear power plant in Shanghai owned by the China National Nuclear Corporation, a state-run company. Many US-based multinational corporations benefit directly from Export-Import Bank subsidies to China, including Boeing, Westinghouse, and McDonnell Douglas. So it’s not hard to understand that business trumps the feelgood rhetoric condemning China.

There is no constitutional authority for Congress to make loans to any country, and certainly no basis for giving away the hard-earned cash of Americans to communist leaders who brutalize their women and children with forced abortions, and persecute Christians for their faith.

In reality, there is very little the federal government can do about conditions in China. Under our Constitution, the federal government simply does not have the authority to point a gun at Chinese leaders and force them to respect the principles of liberty. It just doesn't work that way.

I believe that by engaging the Chinese people, opening personal dialogue, and seeking to change their hearts and minds, we soon will see that regime collapse. The laws of economics dictate that a communist system cannot stand for long. But in the same way, I firmly believe there is a higher law which dictates that people exposed to the principles of liberty will not for long allow themselves to remain shackled to an oppressive government. Economic freedom, i.e. capitalism, now has a strong foothold in China. The Chinese people may soon demand political, religious, and personal freedom as well. But in the meantime let’s stop sending tax dollars to support a government we claim to despise."

Unfortunately, the Republican faithful seem to be incapable of discerning the marks of true greatness, not to mention fidelity to constitutional government. It is doubtful that most of them even understand what constitutional government is. And as for Christian conservatives, they can barely see any issues beyond abortion and "gay rights." To try and convince them to support a constitutionalist candidate is like talking to a brick wall."

Police Brutality Cases up 25% since 9/11

WASHINGTON — Federal prosecutors are targeting a rising number of law enforcement officers for alleged brutality, Justice Department statistics show. The heightened prosecutions come as the nation's largest police union fears that agencies are dropping standards to fill thousands of vacancies and "scrimping" on training.

Cases in which police, prison guards and other law enforcement authorities have used excessive force or other tactics to violate victims' civil rights have increased 25% (281 vs. 224) from fiscal years 2001 to 2007 over the previous seven years, the department says.

During the same period, the department says it won 53% more convictions (391 vs. 256). Some cases result in multiple convictions.

Federal records show the vast majority of police brutality cases referred by investigators are not prosecuted.

University of Toledo law professor David Harris, who analyzes police conduct issues, says it will take time to determine whether the cases represent a sustained period of more aggressive prosecutions or the beginnings of a surge in misconduct.

The cases involve only a fraction of the estimated 800,000 police in the USA, says James Pasco, executive director of the National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), the nation's largest police union.

Even so, he says, the FOP is concerned that reduced standards, training and promotion of less experienced officers into the higher police ranks could undermine more rigid supervision.

"These are things we are worried about," Pasco says.

For the past few years, dozens of police departments across the country have scrambled to fill vacancies. The recruiting effort, which often features cash bonuses, has intensified since 9/11, because many police recruits have been drawn to military service.

In its post-Sept. 11 reorganization, the FBI listed police misconduct as one of its highest civil rights priorities to keep pace with an anticipated increase in police hiring through 2009.

The increasing Justice numbers generally correspond to a USA TODAY analysis of federal law enforcement prosecutions using data compiled by the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University.

Those data show 42 law enforcement prosecutions during the first 10 months of fiscal year 2007, a 66% increase from all of fiscal 2002 and a 61% rise from a decade ago.

David Burnham, the co-founder of the TRAC database, says prosecutions appear to be increasing, but "more important" are the numbers of cases prosecutors decline.

Last year, 96% of cases referred for prosecution by investigative agencies were declined.

In 2005, 98% were declined, a rate that has remained "extremely high" under every administration dating to President Carter, according to a TRAC report.

The high refusal rates, say Burnham and law enforcement analysts, result in part from the extraordinary difficulty in prosecuting abuse cases. Juries are conditioned to believe cops, and victims' credibility is often challenged.

"When police are accused of wrongdoing, the world is turned upside down," Harris says. "In some cases, it may be impossible for (juries) to make the adjustment."

The Real Barack Obama: A warning to Liberals and Conservatives

It is strange the way the winds of politics sweep some off their feet, and others to great heights. Barack Obama is a powerful speaker, and certainly the media darling of this campaign.

He has the support of Hollywood insiders like David Geffen and George Clooney, and has won political support from such seemingly diverse corners of the ideological spectrum as the Edward Kennedy and Matthew Dowd, Bush’s chief campaign strategist in 2004.

Obama is selling himself as the “change” candidate, but what do we really know about him? Actor Ben Affleck said that he supported Obama, but wasn't quite sure where he stood on the issues. Shouldn’t we all know what kind of “change” a presidential candidate stands for before we let him lead the nation?

Obama is an attractive candidate and America is crying out for something different. Senator Obama certainly looks different. "Obama" certainly sounds different. He's not a "Clinton" or a "Bush", which is certainly a relief for some. But is he really different? If he is so different, why then do the powers of the status quo seem so pleased with a man that we really know so little about?

In this short column I've tried to peel back the veil on the Senator's rise to power. Frankly, I'm not very impressed.

Obama is being sold as an anti-war candidate. Calling for an immediate end to the War in Iraq may be popular, but peace activists may be sorely disappointed with the plans President Obama has for the American military.

He's not calling for an end to military adventurism; he is just calling for an end to this particular war at this particular time. In his own words he called for "a phased withdrawal of American forces with the goal of removing all combat brigades from Iraq by March 31st, 2008". While he has since pushed back his target date for withdrawal until 16 months after he enters office, he has not changed his plan and says he intends to "leave behind residual force."

He goes further to say "This administration’s first Secretary of Defense proudly acknowledged that he had inherited the greatest fighting force in the nation’s history. Six years later, he handed over a force that has been stretched to the breaking point, understaffed, and struggling to repair its equipment. Two-thirds of the Army is now rated “not ready” for combat. 88% of the National Guard is not ready to deploy overseas, and many units cannot respond to a domestic emergency. Our men and women in uniform are performing heroically around the world in some of the most difficult conditions imaginable. But the war in Afghanistan and the ill-advised invasion of Iraq have clearly demonstrated the consequences of underestimating the number of troops required to fight two wars and defend our homeland. That’s why I strongly support the expansion of our ground forces by adding 65,000 soldiers to the Army and 27,000 Marines."

Senator Obama is still leaving open the option of future use of preemptive force, saying "No President should ever hesitate to use force – unilaterally if necessary – to protect ourselves and our vital interests when we are attacked or imminently threatened. But when we use force in situations other than self-defense, we should make every effort to garner the clear support and participation of others."

Talk like that might send peace activists running to Ralph Nader or Dennis Kucinich, but lest this hawkish stance provide comfort to conservatives – look to Senator Obama’s latest contribution to the senate agenda, the "Global Poverty Act" (S.2433). This legislation would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of gross national product on foreign aid. This amounts to (about) 91 billion dollars a year, all to fund the United Nations’ “Millennium Development Goals”. Once in the hands of U.N. bureaucrats, the U.S. would have little control over how the money was spent, thereby bringing “taxation without representation” into the now.

These are just two issues that should give potential supporters of Barack Obama pause, whether they identify with the left or the right. For those on the left, Obama offers a tepid commitment to peace, and no clear commitment to restoring our eroded civil liberties or repealing The Patriot Act. For those on the right, Senator Obama has no plan to peel back the layers of regulation that is choking our health care system, no plan to secure our boarders, and no plan to stop the explosion of illegal aliens.

For all Americans, Senator Obama has no plan to stabilize the falling dollar, no plan to fully fund Social Security, no plan to achieve energy independence, and no plan to stop the destruction of the middle class at the hands of transnational globalist entities like the UN, NAFTA, The WTO, and the coming North American Union.

It's great that Senator Obama looks different from the other candidates, but it is more important that he be different; glossy oratories wrapped around more of the same just won't cut it.

Millions have spoken these or similar words upon enlistment in the Armed Forces of the United States. Most were US citizens, but many were not. Many were volunteers, while others were draftees. Most were men, but many were women. Since the founding of the Continental Army in 1775, the United States military has drawn on people of every race, cultural heritage, religion, and sex to serve the nation in providing for the "common defence". I am one of these millions, and although it has been sixteen years since I first spoke the words of the oath of enlistment, they have stayed with me.

A number of things strike me about this oath that I took at the age of 21. Most significant to me is that the oath has no time limit placed on it; the Oath does not expire at the end of the term of enlistment. It goes on. My service in the military may have ended in 1993, but my promise is with me still.

The oath of enlistment makes three vows. The first is to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies. The second is a vow of fealty to that Constitution. The third is an affirmation to abide by the rules and structure of the service the new recruit is about to enter.

The Constitution. We veterans have sworn an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Who are these enemies of the Constitution? Are there foreign enemies who would destroy our Constitution? Not from what I can see. The leaders of this country have told us that our foreign enemies -- terrorists -- hate our freedom, presumably the freedoms derived from the Constitution, and are attempting to destroy us because of the freedoms we enjoy (not because of any actions we have taken in their homelands). But our overseas enemies cannot take our freedoms from us for themselves, nor can their attacks profit at all by taking away our Constitution.

In particular, the idea of others hating our freedom does not ring true as our leaders' response to the attacks we have suffered is to beat the enemy to the punch, so to speak, when they themselves restrict the Constitutional freedoms that we have enjoyed for generations. Leaders of the current Administration have taken a nation that was once one huge land of Free Speech, and restricted it to "Free Speech Zones" whenever the President or his Cabinet members are nearby. They have prosecuted people for exercising their rights to Free Assembly and Free Association. These leaders have imprisoned people without charge, searched their personal lives without due process, denied them trial by jury, coerced them into self-incrimination, attempted to enforce their religious priorities on the citizenry of the United States, and attempted to halt the self-governance of the people of individual states, apparently violating the First, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Ninth and Tenth Amendments to the Constitution.

Curiously, the oath of office for President of the United States has a clause in it similar to the first clause of the soldier's oath: "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States." So what is one to do when the President violates his oath? The third part of the oath of enlistment specifically mentions obedience to the President, the Commander in Chief. What a predicament this places on the honor-bound soldier -- his oath in conflict with itself!

As a veteran, I must take a closer look at this oath that I have held near my heart for so long. Of the three parts of the soldier's oath, obedience to the President is third, placing it in the lowest priority in my mind. Next, being only one of three parts of the oath, the greater weight is obviously given to the Constitution. Finally, unlike the other two parts of the oath, the section requiring obedience to the President is tucked inside a clause about adherence to military regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice, the only part of the oath specifically about the troop's conduct during the period of enlistment. This appears to be a deliberate tie into the military service of the new recruit, thus the one part of the oath that ends with the term of enlistment. From these, I see my marching orders written on the wall.

My first allegiance is to The Constitution of the United States; my first duty is to protect it from all enemies, foreign and domestic; and my vow of obedience to the President of the United States expired in 1993.

Therefore, I stand today opposed to my President, and the anti-American, un-Constitutional, unpatriotic Administration for which he serves as figurehead. I will do my part to voice my opposition, educate the populace, diligently support my political causes, and work with others to restore American freedoms to their former glory.

As a soldier, I made a promise. As a veteran, I will carry that promise with me to the end of my days.
