Rupert Builds A Straw Man

7 Hours ago, media tycoon Rupert Murdoch tweeted

"Simple equation: free, open uncontrollable Internet versus shackled newspapers equals no newspapers. Let's get real."

First I would like to point out that this is nothing but a straw man, to act like your newspaper and mainstream media empire is being shackled by anything is so far from reality it's astounding.

Your empire is crumbling for one reason, and that is for the first time in human history information is now free. For basically a century information has been readily available it isn't just the collegiate who have access to parchment or the wealthy who have access to the printed word, but being available and being honest and uncontrolled are two different things.

With the internet we have entered into a new era, a time when freedom of thought broke out of the gate so quickly I think it caught everyone by surprise and left the powerful struggling to put pandora back in the box. It won't happen, not without drastic and dire consequences.

Nobody controls what is written on the internet, and that is so crucial to the ongoing struggle to live free.

So good riddance to every newspaper, radio and TV station on this planet. We don't need you anymore, we have the internet.
