Sante Fe Police Confront Man For Legally Open Carrying And Lie Their Asses Off

For those that have never, or rarely ever get into confrontations with the police this is a textbook case of what they will do to obtain information.  They lie repeatedly to try and get this man to answer their questions.  Thankfully because this man kept his head, and was ARMED the incident never got out of control.

This vidiographer is my new hero. This guy has some serious gonads. I love it.

Thanks.

I wish I could tell this guy that his actions aren't going unappreciated.

OH WOW!!!! I LOVE THIS GUY too!!!!
Damn!!! .. This video Needs to go Viral!!
I'm in no way anti-cop. But, I am most certainly a supporter of our basic rights. A couple things I found really interesting about this video. The entire Hispanic community is in an uproar over the new AZ immigration laws. They call it profiling. They call it that before it's even went into effect. Yet here you have a Hispanic cop, completing lying about the law, infringing on this obviously white guys rights. Where is the outrage? Why hasn't it hit mainstream media? This guy was profiled as a possible felon just because he was in this cops ''space''. So, it's acceptable to profile a white guy who is breaking no laws, completely within his rights, but not a suspected illegal? When there is cause to believe he/she is?
Well - To be absolutely fair here .. Next time you see a cop writing a ticket or interrogating someone on the street, Make sure you are "Open Carrying" a Handgun, and then approach the officer while you are filming what he is doing.
I have a feeling, that the officer would Absolutely and immediately Profile you as a potential threat, and be well within his rights to determine if you are in fact a Felon in possession of a firearm, Or some other nefarious person.
"They" are a little more laid-back in NM, but with our recent history of cops being ambushed, I doubt that this would have gone the way it did in the video, If it had occurred in Seattle, or even Portland
Show me a felon in Portland or Seattle that's stupid enough to open carry, and I'll show you a felon that deserves to get shot.
Allow me to elaborate. The recent shootings in Seattle and Portland, were not committed by people who were open carrying. They were committed by felonious thugs that ambushed them. They weren't video taping anyone, they simply snuck up on the officers and shot. The one in Longview (?) was shot in the back of the head. The four in Seattle, as they were sitting in a coffee shop. Campbell? His was hidden in a sock in the closet. The mood disorder kid near LLoyd Center, concealed under the seat.
I am not arguing the issue, nor contradicting your points .. Just trying to put myself in the cop's position.
... Yeah, I know .. My analysis and "empathy" skills kinda suck .. heh!

Does a Citizen have the right to "Open Carry" ( in localities where it is Not specifically illegal to do so )?
- - - Of course he/she does!

Is it the brightest thing in the world, to be "Open Carrying", and to "walk up" on a cop, and defend your rights?
- - - uh .. Maybe, not so much, I would think.
Same here, my friend. Just trying to make the point that typically, it's not a felon with bad intentions that open carries. Those with bad intentions are the sneaky snake in the grass type. Keeping in mind there is a distinct difference between having your sidearm holstered and having it drawn.
Hi RH! Yeah, I was waiting for the guy to get tackled. If I had to hear that cop say, ''My scene'' one more time, I thought I was going to scream.
Hey lips.

So are we on speaking terms again?
I never knew we weren't. Of course I will always defend the badcat. I know her on a personally level. I care a lot about her. Doesn't mean you and I can't be friends. If that's what you mean.
"I never knew we weren't."

Fair enough.
I'm going to run down to the church for a few hours. NO! I am not religious, just like to volunteer and they make it easy. Then to the office. Will catch up from there. Don't disappear on me. I like this site. Thanks Joe, for turning me onto it.
Yeah - We need to spread the word Far and Wide :-)
Thanks for the link! I had to wait till I got home to see it.

I would think that if the cop thought the guy with the camera was really a threat he would have done something during his traffic stop, which also evidently was illegal.

Normally I am all for the cops, but this situation just didn't give me the feeling of being in any way dangerous. Evidently these cops can lie, but aren't too good on complex thought like assessing a situation.
the praise here is misdirected. It should be heaped upon the two police officers! You have no idea how hard it was for these guys to let this man walk. If you don't believe me,plant a camera in a room full of cops, and watch your video after they watch this one. I would bet that to a man they would be discussing ways they would have not allowed this man to walk away. Cops do not take losing well. I was sure I was going to see violence done to this man as I watched this video unfold. Those sworn to serve and protect do just that; serve their own egos and protect their fellow officers even if it means trampling on the rights of others. This video should be shown to all law enforcement as a training film on how to serve and protect! And the 2 officers shown in the film should teach the class! That would be a hoot to watch!! My .02

Wow, this was amazing. I am glad that things turned out good for the person taking the video. Thank you for showing us that we have specific rights that some officers tend to treat with disdain.
