This weekend's gay pride parade in Chicago will have a new group participating - students and parents from a local elementary school.
Parents from Nettlehorst Elementary - both gay and straight - approached organizers and asked to march in the parade on Sunday, which goes right past the school in East Lakeview.
Parade coordinator Rich Pfeiffer says he thinks the inclusion of youngsters shows the vastness of the gay community.
He says events like the parade expose children to the different type of people in the world.
Not everyone is happy about the idea.
Peter LaBarbera, president of the group Americans for Truth about Homosexuality, says the gay pride parade is an inappropriate place for young children.
He says the parade is "highly sexualized" and questions what children will be exposed to.
